Ben Riley fue batería de una serie de importantes leyendas de la música jazz norteamericana, su trabajo se puede seguir a través de discos de Thelonious Monk, Alice Coltrane, Stan Getz, Woody Herman, Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis, Ahmad Jamal, Sonny Rollins o Kenny Barron.
También, durante los años 70 formó parte de New York Jazz Quartet. Esto le convirtió a él también como un nombre dentro del firmamento de estrellas de la música que siempre defendió.
Ben Riley nació en el estado de Georgia pero a los 4 años se mudó con su familia a la ciudad de New York.
