Falleció en el día de ayer el mítico teclista y fundador de Depeche Mode, Andy Fletcher y con respecto a la cual reeditamos el artículo que escribió nuestro compañero Jaime Díaz Fraga sobre la actuación de DM en Granada. El ojo abarca la belleza del mundo ¡Descanse en paz, Andy Fletcher!

Tras mucho tiempo esperando un concierto de Depeche Mode, por fin pude presenciar la puesta en escena de uno de los grupos más significativos en el panorama musical de los últimos veinticinco años. El lugar elegido por mis amigos y yo fue Granada, en su espléndida Plaza de Toros. Entre las ciudades que comprendieron las últimas fechas de Touring The Angel, nombre de la gira, escogimos Granada por abarcar la belleza del mundo. El tándem Granada y Depeche Mode fue inmejorable.
Era una ocasión irrepetible para comprobar las sensaciones que te transmite el directo. No me defraudaron e incluso me sorprendieron con temas como “I Feel you” que en la última gira la habían destrozado. El tema “I Feel You” dejo de ser un significante para convertirse en un significado y abanderado de todo el concierto: hubo comunión. Los nuevos temas del último disco, “Playing The Angel” (Mute, 2005) dieron la talla. A destacar: “John The Revelador” y “Precious”. Especialmente el solo de guitarra que imprimieron en esta última. Entre los diez primeros temas que abrieron el show, ninguno correspondió al Violador (Mute, 1990) que por decirlo de alguna manera es su álbum más conocido y que dejaron para el final. Y sin embargo, el público se entregó a las primeras de cambio. Algunos de esos primeros temas, ya tienen veinte años como el caso de Stripped, “Behind The Wheel” o “Question of Time”. Algo que viene a demostrar que Depeche Mode se ha convertido en un grupo atemporal e incluso capaz de añadir pócimas de guitarras a canciones en un principio típicamente electrónicas como las mencionadas. Por supuesto, dieron un repaso del álbum “Songs of Faith and Devotion” (Mute, 1993) con “Walking in my Shoes” e “In Your Room”, dos impactantes temas sobre la empatía. Mi disco preferido.
También hicieron un guiño a su primer disco “Speak and Spell (Mute, 1981) tocando “Photographic”. Antes de ello, ocurrió el cenit del concierto con “Personal Jesus” y “Enjoy the Silence”, ambas del archiconocido “Violador”. Cerraron con la imprescindible “Never let me down again”. En total fueron 17 canciones. Tal vez, faltaron “Halo” y “Everything Counts” en la retina.
